About Car Dash Facts
Car Dash Facts is a straightforward reference site for one job: helping drivers and operators figure out what a dashboard warning light means and what to do about it.
We started this site because finding a clear answer about a warning light is harder than it should be. Manuals are vague, forums are a mess of guesses, and most pages bury the answer under a pile of filler. We keep it simple: tell you what the light is, how serious it is, and what your next step should be.
What you will find here
We cover car, truck, and tractor dashboards. Our guides are organized by color, because that is how your vehicle ranks problems. Red means stop and deal with it now. Amber means service is needed soon. Green and blue are informational. We also cover diagnostic questions, like why a transmission can act up without a check engine light.
How we put guides together
Every guide is checked against manufacturer service information and written by people who have spent real time working on vehicles. We try to be honest about cost and difficulty. Some fixes are a quick driveway job; others need a scan tool and a proper shop. We say which is which.
A note on diagnosis
A warning light is a clue, not a conclusion. Nothing takes the place of hooking up a scanner and looking the car over, so use these pages to get your bearings before you start turning wrenches.
